Hello there,
Here are two more interesting ways to practice scales. Not only do you get to know the scale better, but you also get to practice string skipping and sequences(not the mathematical kind).
Well as i already said you can practice your scale by using string skipping...your thinking what the heck is string skipping. Well it literally means to skip a string. So if you are playing the
pentatonic scale.Play the 1-st string then play the notes on the 3-rd string. Then go back up 1 string (2-nd string)play the notes on the that string and now skip the 3-rd string and go directly to
the 4-th string....and keep on doing that till you reach the last string. Then try string skipping as you descend the scale!
The other way to practice a scale would be sequences...I would advice you to start out with seqquences of fours using the peantatonic scale...So all you need to do is play the first 4 notes of the
scale then go back to the 2nd note that you played and play another 4 notes from there. You do this till you reach the last string...you can also youtube sequences i bet someone would have posted
something about sequences already!
have fun practicing!
